Your Wedding Music

The Director of Music

organThe Director of Music in this parish is Mr Roger Gay. He is available to discuss the music and hymns for your wedding. You will find some suggestions below. Please make an appointment to meet him through our parish office. (Contact details in the right-hand sidebar.)

When you meet him, you will also need to book the choir if you are having one. (We strongly recommend that you do book the choir, since experience shows most wedding congregations need support for their singing.)

You will need to choose music to come into the service, music to leave by, and hymns. Either two or three hymns are normal at weddings. You can also request particular items to be sung during the signing of the registers, if you book the choir, or accept the Director of Music’s suggestions from their repertoire.

Any choices you make at this stage can be changed right up until the printing of the service sheets, but it is helpful to have this part of your wedding planned.

Keep a note of your choices:

If you wish to provide your own organist, or a soloist, please discuss this with the Director of Music when you meet. Please note that the usual organist’s fee is still payable as part of the wedding fees.

Music and hymns

All the following are simply suggestions to get you started. You do not have to choose from this list, but can choose from a wide range of hymns, songs and music. If there is a particular piece you are considering but are unsure whether it would be allowed, please discuss it with the Director of Music and the clergy to see whether it is suitable or appropriate for a wedding service. We are willing to consider any request, provided it would not be jarring or out of place.
