St Peter's Concert - A Report

On Saturday 6th December approximately 80 people were entertained in St. Peter’s church by Trio Con Brio from Mansfield. The trio consists of Simon Willis, euphonium, Daniella Hursthouse, soprano and Sarah Parsons, piano. They were making a third appearance at the church and presented an evening of seasonal music with some audience participation.

The second half of the programme included an item by the Parish Junior Choir who had been rehearsing on their normal weekly night with Paula Honniball and Pat Crawford. The Junior Choir also joined the trio in a moving performance of Silent Night narrated by Daniella’s father. The choir were able to have just one practice in church with the trio before the performance began.

A raffle was held on the evening with prizes donated by a number of local businesses and thanks are given to them for their generosity. Everyone enjoyed mulled wine (or orange juice) and mince pies in the interval. In total the evening raised just over £500 for St. Peter’s funds. It was a bitterly cold evening but everyone left the concert with a warm glow and looking forward to Christmas.
